Structural Engineers, PC Professional Services KCE offers the full range of structural
engineering services, from pre-design consultation through design to construction phase
services. Our projects have utilized all types of construction including, but not limited
to, poured-in-place mild steel reinforced concrete, precast concrete, steel frame,
composite steel, masonry wall-bearing, post-tensioned concrete, etc., for a wide variety
of uses including but not limited to, mixed use projects, office buildings, hotels and
apartment buildings, warehouses, commercial buildings, parking facilities, hospitals,
historic facilities and religious facilities, including several thousand single family
homes.
We have
provided Structural Design Consultation for projects in twenty four states, and projects
for the countries of
We have
developed specialized systems such as: hammerhead brackets, piggyback girders, iron cross
columns, and the widely used sloped columns, as well as side by side girders and composite
concrete and steel Vierendeel trusses.
In addition
to our extensive concrete design experience, many projects we have designed have utilized
structural steel, including conventional structural steel, composite structural steel,
structural steel with bar joists, stub girders, and staggered trusses on numerous
projects.
KCE is also
experienced in the design of heavy and light timber structures, light gauge metal
structures and in the use of space frame systems, and structural glass wall systems.
KCE is
frequently called upon by owners, developers, banks, insurance companies, and the like, to
provide Peer Review and Constructability Review for structural, mechanical, plumbing and
electrical portions of buildings on projects designed by others. (We have a team of
consultants for the non structural items)
In addition
to our "conventional" structural design services, KCE Structural Engineers,
P.C., is able to provide full time field inspection services for concrete reinforcing,
structural steel, and formwork, for projects throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area.
Our
experience includes providing full structural inspection services for projects designed by
others, as well as for our own projects.
In addition,
we have specialized in Forensic Investigations of existing buildings, buildings in failure
modes and emergency situations, most recently at the Pentagon. We are world known
for Emergency Investigations and Stabilizations, and are members of Emergency Response
Teams and Consultants to numerous Governmental Agencies.
